Disney shed off 1900 jobs at Walt Disney World.

Walt Disney Company have laid off about 1900 jobs at its U.S. theme parks through job cuts and attrition. The cuts came as a part of the company’s reorganization of its theme parks and resort operations. They are another company blaming ED for their troubles.  Disney said it would lay off about 1200 people and leave about 700 positions unfilled. Most of the cuts will be at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Perhaps they should reduce their ticket prices and then they would get more people visiting!

Total losses = 1900

Game over for Zavvi as they go into administration.

Quoted from the BBC

Music, games and DVD chain Zavvi has gone into administration, Ernst & Young has announced, threatening 3,400 jobs.

The troubled chain has been badly affected by the demise of Woolworths, which forced it to stop taking new orders via its website.

Zavvi’s main supplier is Woolworths’ unit Entertainment UK (EUK), which went into administration on 27 November.

The daft thing about ZAVVI was that they sold almost exactly the same goods as HMV and in a lot of places such as Oxford Street, Canary Wharf, Bluewater, Lakeside there would be these two stores almost side by side. How on earth did they think they could compete? Richard Branson definitely got out of this business at the right time.
