Legal & General are sacking 300 full-time staff and 260 contractors and temporary workers and are part of the 10% head count reduction the company revealed it was likely to make earlier this year..  The company blames the current economic climate for the losses.

The job losses will be spread across the company’s offices in London, Cardiff, Hove and Kingswood in Surrey.

RSA Insurance Group PLC slashes around 400 jobs in Bristol.

RSA is closing its Bristol operations, cutting around 400 full-time job although this affects 500 people as many posts are job shares, this is all in aid of reducing costs.

RSA is a personal and commercial insurer with 42% of its operation in the United Kingdom. In Bristol the company can trace its routes back centuries to Royal Fire Insurance.

The world’s second largest reinsurance group, Swiss Re has announced plans to cut 10% of its 1150 staff following record losses that forced the company to turn to Warren Buffett for capital.
